Taylor Swift is already the most awarded woman at the Billboard Music Awards

Music news

Little by little, based on work, effort and talent, women are occupying the position that they should have had for years within the music industry. After years in which they have capitalized on the recognitions and with some episodes still to be resolved in a society that continues to be sexist, the great female music stars are also beginning to take over the awards ceremonies. It is the case of Taylor Swift who is already the most awarded woman at the Billboard Music Awards.

In this 2023 edition that we tell you live on our website WECBthe American soloist managed to equal the record that the rapper held alone until now drake. For years the genre was the absolute dominator of recognition but there are more and more lists in which Latin, country and pop claim their prominence.

And that is what has happened with Taylor Swift in recent years where she has achieved a whopping 39 statuettes (or Billboard microphones). The last 10 arrived at the end of this year’s ceremony, making the performer one of the big winners of the night.

Taylor eventually managed to win 10 awards. Only 5 separated the American from Drake in the global calculation of the history of these recognitions, so adding the rapper’s 5 in 2023 and the singer’s 10, it is already equal in the historical record of top BBMA winners: Drake 39 and Taylor Swift 39.

“Well, this is unreal. I can’t believe you gave me 10 Billboard Music Awards. I’m talking specifically about the fans without whom none of this would be possible. Billboard rewards what you are listening to and what you are passionate about. This year you have done that The Eras Tour is magical. You have filled the theaters with the documentary and you have worried about my re-recordings. I feel like… I love you very much and I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have you on my side worrying about the music that I do. Thank you thank you ten million times for this,” he confessed in the thank you video recorded from the backstage of his tour The Eras Tour that is currently passing through Latin America.

Taylor Swift thus joins her name to that of great music stars such as Beyoncé, who is the most nominated and awarded artist in various awards such as the Grammy Awards (along with her husband Jay Z) or the BET Awards, or in an example closer to our music, Shakira, who is the top winner of WECB Music Awards (former 40 Principales Awards) equal with Pablo Alborán.
