“The Bay” is taken from Find You, a newly released EP which marks the kick-off of his solo career. However, he is not new to the music business. Indeed, he participated in the writing of the single “These Days” by Wallows, which won a gold record. The artist is also credited on mandolin and violin on Women in Music Pt. III, Haim’s latest album, which was also nominated for the 2021 Grammy Awards. Julian Maclanahan is also in the band of Rostam Batmanglij, former keyboardist of Vampire Weekend. He toured with him in Europe and the United States.
Drawing on these enriching experiences and his talent as a multi-instrumentalist, he takes you on a journey through four pieces that combine finesse and poetry. He combines varied influences, drawn from a broad spectrum ranging from Elvis Presley to Vivaldi. Composed during the post-pandemic blues, this record is nevertheless filled with positive vibes and polished melodies. Both elaborate and spontaneous, Find You marks a promising start. It remains to be seen what the multifaceted artist has in store for his audience next.
