Jared Leto risked his life Thursday morning by climbing the upper floors of the Empire State Building to… promote the upcoming 30 Seconds to Mars tour.
With this feat, the actor-singer became the first person to legally scale the Manhattan landmark, although his ascent began on the 86th floor and ended on the 104th floor, 396 meters above the ground.
“ To tell you the truth, I was more excited than nervousLeto told Today after the waterfall. But I have to be honest, it was very, very hard. It was a lot harder than I thought. The endurance it took, the resistance it took, and it was very sharp. » He said his hands were cut during the ascent.

Regarding the inspiration for the climb, Jared Leto explained: “ When I was young, I wanted to be an artist, and New York was the place you came to be an artist. The Empire State Building has always been that symbol for me. »
Leto (who sometimes scales the exterior walls of the hotels he stays in) then tried to link his feat to the tour Seasons World Tour of 30 Seconds to Mars, which will debut in March 2024. “ I’ve had a fascination with the Empire State Building since I was a childhe explained on Instagram. I don’t know if it was the Guinness World Records, King Kong, but something about this iconic structure always captured my imagination. Built in just 13 short months, in one of the greatest cities in the world, it has always been for me a powerful symbol of all the possibilities of life. In many ways, this album is about chasing your dreams and pushing yourself to do what seems impossible. Climbing the Empire State Building definitely falls into this category for me. »
