The Nancy Jazz Pulsations celebrated its 50th anniversary for two weeks. So many years in which it has anchored itself among the most ambitious and warmest festivals in the country.
In fifty years, Nancy Jazz Pulsations has seen the greatest, from Nina Simone to Miles Davis. All these years, the warm festival of several tens of thousands of spectators, in the heart of the PĂ©pinière garden or on the edge of the Boulevard d’Austrasie in the L’Autre Canal room sees things very – very – big: program more of one hundred artists in seven different locations.
Artists that it’s great to see on these stages – a far cry from some of the other less daring festivals. For these 50 years, the NJP has notably offered itself the services of the Belgian crooner Warhaus – escaped from Balthazar – and his four musicians (notably violinists, keyboardist or trombonist, that’s a change!) with a chic red scenography, a concert mixing The gentle aura of a winter night with the offbeat energy of an evening full of unexpected events.
The Nancy Jazz Pulsations is a family into which we are welcomed with open arms, with all our wholeness. A warm festival with jazz scenes for fans, indie for others, electro for dancers in the wooded marquee called “Magic Mirrors”, once night falls.
From Deus to Erik Truffaz, from Zaho de Sagazan to Asaf Avidan, Nancy Jazz Pulsations dares to mix everything together to make a joyful and refreshing cocktail. “When the weather starts to get ugly, we know that the Nancy Jazz Pulsations is coming and that it will allow the sometimes sad autumn to be a little sunnier” told us Thibaud Rolland, its director. The NJP is indeed the warmth of the heart and good music, in the face of the rain.
