Joe Sumner soon in Paris

Music news

British musician Joe Sumner will soon be headlining at New Morning, for an exceptional date.

On December 2, Joe Sumner will be in concert at New Morning in Paris. Places are available via the organizer’s website.

Sting’s eldest son, fans of The Police frontman were able to see him as the opening act on his tour, notably during the French dates in 2022.

However, far from wanting to copy his father’s work, Joe Sumner prefers to express his grunge influences. He actually came to music while listening to Nirvana. It was with this influence in mind that he founded his first band, titled Santa’s Boyfriend, who released their first album, Swings and Roundabouts, in 2000. The group then took the name Fiction Plane.

Now alone in the Seine, Joe Sumner, armed only with his guitar and his microphone, now practices folk rock. If his music is somewhat toned down, he has nevertheless not lost energy. The proof with “You, You, You”, his first solo single, in which he expresses all his sense of interpretation, with his characteristic voice, although it necessarily recalls that of Sting. A title present in Sunshine in the Night, his first solo album, available since October.
