Jay Weinberg joined Slipknot in December 2013 following the departure of drummer Joey Jordison.
Slipknot have parted ways with their longtime drummer Jay Weinberg. On Sunday, the band announced on its website that after a decade behind the drums, Weinberg was leaving the group.
“ We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years”, Slipknot wrote in their statement. Weinberg joined the band in December 2013 following the departure of original drummer Joey Jordison that same month. Son of Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, Jay Weinberg played on the album .5: The Gray Chapter (2014) from the metal band from Iowa, on We Are Not Your Kind (2019) and on The End, So Far (2022). Weinberg, who performed with the band in Toluca, Mexico, at Heaven & Hell Fest on November 3, and was recognized as metal drummer of the year in the readers’ poll of Modern Drummer in September, has yet to publicly comment on his split from Slipknot.
