Review: Gigi Perez – “At the Beach, in Every life”

Reviews

Gigi Perez is one of those artists who take you by the hand and drags you into a narrative full of authentic, intense emotions, and not always easy to digest.

His debut album At the Beach, in Every life It is an emotional journey that explores firsthand the loss and rebirth with a delicacy that seems almost a caress. His music arises from a deep pain, the death of his sister Cene, but does not stop there: he also tells the love he saves, not the idealized one, but the real one, made of presence and listening.

Gigi's voice is an empathic whisper, capable of making his suffering feel close without ever expiring in the melodrama. Songs like Fable They bring to light hidden wounds, immersed in muffled sound landscapes, between reverberations and melodies that seem to be waves that break slowly. It is a music that invites you to stop, to breathe, but for this reason it can be a little tired if listened to all together. In fact, the disc has an almost hypnotic, at times repetitive, and for this reason it must be taken calmly, as a medicine to be administered in small doses in the moments when an emotional refuge really serves.

It is not an album that screams, rather a silent companion who remains next to you while you move among your thoughts. The atmospheres move fluid between intimate folk, thin electronics and ambient touches, built with the patience of those who have learned to live with silence and wait. Sailor Songthe song that made Gigi known to the general public is the emotional heart of this work: a ballad that tells a real love, made of hands stretched when everything seems to collapse.

At the Beach, in Every life It is not for everyone: it is not a record to listen to absently or all in one breath, but for those looking for a soundtrack that knows how to tell the most hidden folds of the soul, it is a small treasure to be discovered slowly, letting themselves be wrapped in every note as by an intimate and precious conversation.
