Review: Neffa – “Canerandagio part 1”

Reviews

Neffa does not come back: the scene resumes and traces a clear, almost definitive line.

A line of demarcation that is not only final, but almost ethical: a gesture of clarity that redefines the perimeter of a scene and many ideas of reflection on a genre and its continuous metamorphosis.

With “Canerandagio part 1”, Giovanni Pellino once again tells his multiple worlds without filters, restoring a self -portrait on the backward on the threshold of sixty years.

It is a record that resembles a confession, an existential and musical balance, in which lyrics become sedimentation space for the experiences of a multifaceted career, consistent in its inconsistency, deeply real.
This first volume – which is hoping to highly have a continuation – moves on a mature and disillusioned soil, but far from resigned: it is the voice of a conscious artist, who has crossed fashions, languages, stylistic drifts, pauses and which today voluntarily escapes the flattering of the present to choose the essentials.

Neffa is still – and perhaps more than ever – a dograndagio: solitary and lucid figure, who crosses a frenetic and disoriented time, observing the cultural changes of a society in constant acceleration from a critical distance. His gaze is participating but not complicit, empathic but not naive. The result is an existential story in which vulnerability is not weakness, but poetic figure, authentic tension towards a musical form that does not betray the original intention.

Streets for himself, mistakes made, high omen, false steps, heart in pieces … someone thinks about paradise but nobody goes to run risk
And remains in hell that is here “

They are verses that condense the essence of a path, the strength of those who have been able to transform instability into identity.
Neffa's resilience is never rhetoric, it is a living matter that makes sound and word.

One of the main qualities that Neffa has always had is to have a fucking style. Stylish in the flow. A natural elegance that lives every joke of its groove, every timbre vibration, every lexical choice. His songs are not limited to playing well: they wrap, seduce, accompany. They have a warmth that knows of experience, a sound that escapes mannerism and preserves an innate class.

No Hit Diachiappa-Streaming, no fireworks. Just under half an hour, sober, with right choices, precise cuts, sounds they tell. And the collaborations? Few, targeted, true. Neffa does not seek trendy featuring: seeking voices that are well in his world. Inside you find historical friends, new levers, people with whom there are exchange, respect, vision. Rap and pop talk themselves as in its origins, without barriers or codes to be respected.

“Canerandagio part 1” is a disc that does not ask for permission, does not win the eye and does not lift. An album that does not chase anyone and does not demand everyone's pleasure.
And for this reason, it is striking.

Because it is real. Because it is neffed.
