Interview – Gaia: “Rosa dei Venti” is a process of acceptance

Interviews

“Rosa dei Venti” is Gaia's new record project, coming out on March 21, 2025.

The album consists of 13 tracks, including 12 unpublished e I call I call you, song presented on the Sanremo stage.

With “Rosa dei Venti”, Gaia opens her personal diary and tells a moment of transition, that phase of life in which everything seems unstable, led by external forces that push in unexpected directions.

The first album entirely in Italian of the Italian-Brazilian singer is a natural flow of writing, a path between energetic and reflective songs that mark an artistic and personal growth.

From the lighter pieces like You trusted and addicted to the deeper ones like Cicatricee the title track, reaching up to Wind, song with feat. by Toquinho written in Michelangelo's floating study, together with him and Franco 126, the album is a search for balance between instinct and awareness.

We talked about it with her, exploring the meaning of this musical journey.

The interview

Gaia, your new pink twenty album comes after a difficult period. How did you feel during your creation?

It was a long and important journey. After the first album, quickly made during Covid, I found myself having to deal with a slightly abstract bond with the public, since I couldn't meet him physically.

So I decided to take time to breathe and understand where I wanted to go, also through travel and meetings with new friends, who enriched the creative process.

I believe that my transformation is still taking place, childbirth is still in progress. This record made me aware of me. An awareness that makes me be kinder and sweet first of all to myself. A disc that represents a process of acceptance.

How was the pink title of the winds born?

The title came out almost by chance, but with great force. I saw him everywhere. Even during a trip, I saw this gigantic mosaic of a wind rose and I started perceiving it like a sign. In addition, it is something that my experience in the United States also reminded me.

In the end, it became the title of the album, which reflects my personal and musical journey. It was a cathartic process, which gave me so much freedom.

What does it mean for you to write in Italian compared to Portuguese?

Writing in Italian was an important step. The Portuguese has a unique musicality, it is more immediate, but I really wanted to “fall in love” of the Italian language.

It amused me to face this challenge, especially in being able to convey the poetry that Italian can have. It was a rediscovery journey, both for me and for my audience.

You collaborated with some very special artists on this album. What was your experience?

I am really proud of this album. The collaborations have been incredible, as with Capo Plaza, Guè, Lorenzza and Toquinho, but also with voices that are not yet very famous but that are part of my heart, like those of my grandmother, my father and mother, who gave a special touch to the project.

Each collaborator brought something unique.

What can you tell us about Cicatrice, one of the most exciting traces of the album?

Scar It is a song that was born from a very emotional moment. It was written in no time, almost as a necessity.

When I wrote it, I found myself in a creative flow that I never imagined. It is a trace that arrives straight to the heart, and I am happy that the audience is appreciating it so much.

You talked about travel that inspired you, like the one in the Amazon. What did this experience give you?

The Amazon gave me a lot. It was an experience that changed my approach to life and music. I learned to be more authentic, to discover new dimensions of myself. And scar is certainly the result of this profound reflection. Traveling allows me to detach and find new inspirations, and I believe that the Amazon, with its power, has had a decisive impact on this album.

Speaking of the tour, what can we expect from the live performance?

On May 7 we will make a special concert, where we will play the entire live album for the first time. It will be a unique experience, with many surprises. The live set was designed to be a special moment for the public, with an energy that I want to share intimately and engagingly.

It will be an opportunity to live the music of Rosa dei Venti in a completely new dimension.
