The short chronicles the eventful journey to the making of Now and Then, which took place over fifty years and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that continue to this day.

John Lennon’s long, mythologized demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project, but remained unfinished, partly due to the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocals that John had recorded on tape in the 1970s.

For years it seemed like the song might never be completed. But in 2022 there was a twist: a software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used during the production of the Get Back documentary series, finally paved the way for the separation of John’s voice from the piano. As a result, the original recording could be brought back to life and reworked with contributions from all four Beatles. This extraordinary story of musical archeology reflects the Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared passion for technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul, George and Ringo will make together and celebrates the legacy of the most important and influential band in the history of popular music.

The audio of the song “Now And Then” will be revealed simultaneously worldwide at 3pm tomorrow. It was announced yesterday, however, that the official video of the song is directed by Peter Jackson, making his debut behind the camera of a music video. The video clip will be released at 3.00 pm (Italian time) on Friday 3 November on the Beatles’ official YouTube channel. The heartwarming and funny music video invites viewers to celebrate the group’s timeless and enduring love for each other along with John, Paul, George and Ringo as they created the Beatles’ final song.

On November 10, the Beatles’ collections, 1962-1966 (‘The Red Album’) and 1967-1970 (‘The Blue Album’), will be released in new 2023 editions via Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe.
