Elton John & Brandi Carlile: the new album released on April 4th

Music news

Elton John and Brandi Carlile announced the release of their studio album “Who Believes in Angels?”, Available from April 4th.

To celebrate the release, on March 26 the two artists will go on the stage of the London Palladium for “An Evening with Elton John & Brandi Carlile”, an exclusive event that will combine performance and narration in one of the most iconic venues in the British capital.

The concept of “Who Believes in Angels?” He was born from the collaboration between Elton, the singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile (winner of Eleven Grammy) and the producer Andrew Watt, who led the project as a producer and co-author.

Elton said:

This record was one of the most difficult I have ever made, but it was also one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. He gave me a new starting point from which I can go on. With “Who Believes in Angels?” I seem to enter another era, I am opening the door to enter the future. I am satisfied with everything I've done so far, it was brilliant, surprising. But this is a new beginning for me. As for me, this is the beginning of a new phase of my career. “

Brandi adds:

I am still surprised by this job and to have the opportunity to work in an incredibly stimulating environment, where everyone share ideas and listen to those of others. As in a family. The world is a wild place to live right now. It is difficult to find peace and realization. This album focuses exactly looking for joy and euphoria. And this is what this album represents for me ”.

Genesis

Recorded at the Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles in October 2023, the album was written and engraved in just 20 days, with an exceptional musician band: Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pino Palladino (Nine Inch Nails , Gary Numan, David Gilmour) and Josh Klinghoffer (Pearl Jam, Beck).

For the first time, Elton John has allowed cameras to document his creative process, capturing spontaneous moments, writing and recording sessions. A short movie of the Making-Of is already available online.

“Who believes in Angels?” Mix ballads, rock and roll, pop and country, with incursions in the psychedelia. The texts bring the historical signature of Bernie Taupin together with Brandi Carlile, while the sound reflects the perfect fusion of their voices and influences.

The single

In addition to the album also the single of the same name “Who Believes in Angels?”.

Just as the rest of the album this single is also a collaboration in all respects: Brandi wrote the text and Elton the theme, before Andrew joined them to give shape to the whole.

From the opening piano agreements, it is unmistakably a classic of Elton John, who immediately manages to call back to the successes of the past while playing absolutely modern. Brandi's voice blends perfectly with Elton's in an imposing refrain full of synths, strong as many of his most loved classics.
