Go! 2025: Daddy G of the Massive Attack and Andy Smith close the opening ceremony in Gorizia

On February 8, 2025, Nova Gorica and Gorizia celebrate the official opening of Go! 2025 – European capital of culture with a day full of events, culminating in a super dj set.

The protagonists of the evening will be Daddy G, a historic member of the Massive Attack, and Andy Smith, a former portishead official DJ, ready to transform the square into a gigantic open -air track.

The event, entitled from Station to Station, symbolically marks the link between the two cross -border cities and will see the electronic contaminated with DUS influences, reggae, soul, vintage funk, Deep House, Dubstep and Breakbeat, in a musical journey that promises to be overwhelming. The appointment is at 9:00 pm, with free admission until the 4,000 seats are exhausted (Dancelli opening at 20:00).

Daddy G: The pioneer of the trip hop

Grant Marshall, better known as Daddy G, is one of the founding fathers of the trip Hop and co-founder of the Massive Attack, born from the experience of the legendary Wild Bunch Sound System in the Bristol of the eighties. Since then, he has revolutionized electronic music, mixing hip hop, dub, techno and house in a sound formula that has influenced generations. In addition to being a pillar of the band, Daddy G is a refined musical selector: in 2004 he edited a famous compilation for the Dj-Kicks series (! K7), a musical journey that ranges from Tricky to Aretha Franklin. With its encyclopedic musical culture and the ability to inflame dancefloor, its set promises to be a hypnotic and explosive experience.

Andy Smith: the Groove Master

Andy Smith is known for having been the official DJ of the Portisheads and for his work with the Prodigy, as well as for the series of compilations the Document, which since 1998 has become a milestone for lovers of funk, soul and reggae music. In his sets, Smith skilessly ranges between Early House, Northern Soul, Disco, Ska Rockstedy and Rhythm & Blues, creating an irresistible mix. From productions to the console, he left his mark with collections such as freestyle mix, Let's boogaloo vol. 4, Trojan Document and Greensleeves Document, and continues to amaze with unique selections that cross decades of music.
