Marianne Mirage's “Theatre” is pure poetry. His discographic return arrives once again like a light, vital, intimate and immediate breeze.
It is a declaration of love to our most hidden heart, an invitation to stop and listen, to breathe every word, every sound.
Marianne, in her musical journey, invites us to sit quietly in the audience, to take the time we need to immerse ourselves in the worlds she creates. Her voice mesmerizes and guides us on a journey of reflection and sensations, leading us to explore with her the most complex and subtle textures of the human soul. With extraordinary sensitivity, Marianne reveals the fragile balance between strength and vulnerability, energy and emotional power, giving an interpretation that fascinates, that captures us and transports us to another dimension.
The symbolic elements that run through his songs are powerful and full of meaning: the Tramontana wind, bearer of change, or the iris, that subtle bridge that connects the body and the cosmos, which reminds us how interconnected our self and the universe. Themes that are both personal and universal, such as the courage of women, the right to tell one's story, the search for stability that goes beyond the earthly world, the delicate healing after a painful separation, the rediscovery of hope and empathy. And again, the profound connection between human beings and nature, a bond that becomes almost mystical. Among these reflections there are also more tangible themes, such as sexuality experienced as mystical ecstasy, and moments of intimate sweetness, such as the affectionate dedication to the father, which warms the soul.
From a musical point of view, “Teatro” is an essential work, elegant in its simplicity. Produced and arranged by Marquis, the album moves like a delicate flight between intimate and dreamy arrangements and atmospheres that recall the retro charm of the Sixties. The sounds intertwine perfectly with Marianne's voice, sensual and warm, which lies on every note, highlighting the evocative strength of every word, every silence. It is a perfect meeting between musicality and meaning, a dance of emotions that mix gently in a suspended atmosphere.
With “Teatro” Marianne Mirage doesn't just create an album: she gives life to a ritual, a dimension that transcends simple listening.
An invocation, a call that takes us into another world, a world where emotions expand and intertwine, where feelings make space, meet and merge into a collective sensation.
TRACK BY TRACK
CLOSE YOUR EYES
With direct words I talk about the strength that a woman must have to trust, to let go and to sometimes remove herself from difficult situations. Songs help us to free ourselves, they help us take courage and no longer feel alone. I thought about the most famous fairy tale in the world, which has always made us afraid and without escape: that of Little Red Riding Hood. Inside each of us there is the same anger and strength as the wolf, it just depends on who tells the story. Little Red Riding Hood first of all had the courage to tell her story and this courage makes us free and strong.
SKY
When we wrote this song, Alessandro Germanò and I thought about faith, the one that supports you when all the certainties you have always relied on collapse. I believe that seeking an absolute truth and relying only on heaven is sometimes a way to rediscover the spirituality that we have lost.
YOU KISS
This song reminds me of singers from the past. Every time I think I don't want to write a sad song anymore I'm always proven wrong. The stories told in a breakup song always arise from the need to get out of the pen, pour onto the paper and find someone willing to listen to them, to hear them say: “I understand you”.
TRAMONTANA
I was in Puglia at the Sud Est Studio, where we were recording the album with Marquis. During the break, sitting outside, I felt a cold wind coming: it was pleasant given the heat of the summer. I asked what it was and they told me the story of the Tramontana, a wind that bursts in with its strength and changes plans. I picked up the guitar and started singing the hook. The first sentence, “I have not lost hope”, was born without thinking. I would like the song to be an awakening for everyone and for this need to be dispersed in the wind.
VENUS
“Without a heart the world falls.” I don't want to live in a world that has lost its empathy towards humanity and nature. When I wrote this sentence I thought about the present. This song wishes a return to universal love with the arrival of Venus, to generosity, sensitivity and kindness, because if we lose these values we have lost our only wealth.”
WITHOUT LAUGHING
Everyone reads what they want into the songs and this is their strength.”
IRIS
In ancient Mesopotamia, more than 2600 years ago, the changing color of the eyes was observed because it was believed that what was happening in the cosmos was clearly visible in the body, in particular in the iris. In the iris of the people I love I see the beginning of the world.
TWO SOULS
An ode to sex, in its most mystical and celebratory form. An awakened freedom that we should always cultivate, in songwriting as in life.
THE VAMPIRE SONG
For my dad.
