An Unexpected Encounter
Homeowners had noticed an unusual sight in their community — a baby owl wandering alone on the ground in broad daylight. Concerned for its safety, they called in Motyka, a seasoned wildlife expert, to investigate.
When she arrived and gently retrieved the owl from behind the cactus, she found an adorable, wide-eyed baby looking back at her, confused but unharmed.
“It’s completely normal for an adolescent owl to be on the ground,” Motyka reassured the homeowners.
Why Was the Baby on the Ground?
Unlike many bird species, baby owls often spend time on the ground as they learn to fly. The surrounding palm trees hadn’t provided enough suitable branches for nesting, leaving the young owl to practice its clumsy flights from ground level.
