INTERVIEW – The two artists who recently united their voices on the song “Tu vis” spoke about the origins of their duo, at the microphone of WECB.
Their collaboration feels good. Joseph Kamel and Mentissa unveiled their duet “Tu vis” a few weeks ago, taken from the reissue of the singer’s album “Miroirs”. A title full of tenderness which evokes lack, inspired by the absence of Joseph Kamel's parents.
“We spent three days in the studio, explains Pierre Garnier's sidekick at the WECB microphone. I arrived with a weight on my heart because my mother, who is a humanitarian doctor, was going to a country for a long time, that scared me a little. I confided in Menti about my parents leaving often since I was little. And at the same time I live a lot of pride and experience through them. She said to me: 'Hey, that would make a great song, you live through them'”
This theme also spoke to Mentissa, who does not see her mother much since the start of her singing career.
“It's about missing a loved one, when you want to be with people and that's not possible, she reveals. I think everyone can relate to this song because we all have people we miss. “
Joseph Kamel in “The Voice Kids” and Mentissa ready for Eurovision
At only 28 years old, Joseph Kamel is preparing to sit in the prestigious coaching chair for “The Voice Kids”, in Belgium, alongside Typh Barrow, Alice on the roof and Matthew Irons.
Mentissa, for her part, could well represent Belgium at the next Eurovision contest. To do this, she will first have to prove herself against seven other competing artists, during the “Eurosong” preselection.
