I've never been so strong in my entire life », Estimates Tim Commerford two years after revealing that he had prostate cancer.

Two years after revealing he had prostate cancer, Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford has given an update on his health.

I've never been so strong in my entire life “, he said in a new interview with Total Rock. And I'm 56 years old. I'm an artist, I focus on that and I'm proud of it. And I've always been very proud of being in shape at my age, because most people my age aren't, that's the truth. »

In December 2022, Commerford announced that he was battling prostate cancer, adding that he had surgery two months before the Rage Against the Machine reunion tour.

I was devastated when I found out I had cancerhe said in this new interview. It took me a few years before I could talk about cancer without getting emotional and crying. But what allowed me to overcome this ordeal and not have to cry all the time was the physical aspect of the situation: yes, I am sick. I have a damaged tendon in my shoulder and the doctor told me: “your left shoulder will only have 75% of the strength of the right”. And I tell myself that if I become 200% stronger than I would have been, I will be 125% stronger. »

Earlier this year, Tim Commerford (currently part of a new group called 7D7D) spoke to WECB of his fight against cancer, as well as the cancellation of the Rage reformation tour: “ My name is Cancer Man. I'm 57 years old and in the best shape of my life. Cancer will never go away. He will always be there. When you have prostate cancer, your PSA (prostate specific antigen) level is tested. For now, I'm at zero. But I get tested every three months. I'm going to be very stressed before the next test. My life has changed. It changed who I am, and in many ways for the better. It made me slow down. It allowed me to take my time a little more to observe the world. »
