The iconic Scottish band, Mogwaiis back and, this time, it arrives more powerful than ever. Since its first steps in 1995, Mogwai has become a fundamental reference of the genre, as they have maintained rhythms that intertwine noise and calm with almost hypnotic precision. Now, he is preparing the release of his eleventh studio album, The Bad Firescheduled for January 24, 2025 via ACTION RECORDSwhich brings us new layers of intensity and emotion in each measure.

The new album has been created together with the indie producer John Congletonknown for working with St Vincent. The band locked themselves in Lanarkshire, Scotland, to create this new work, permeated with echoes of difficult times. The title, The Bad Firealludes to a Scottish colloquialism that describes “hell”, resonating as a reflection of the emotions and challenges that Mogwai has channeled into this production.

In a preview of the album, the group has premiered “Lion Rumpus”a track which demonstrates the band's characteristic style, with distorted guitars, a background of robotic voices and a psychedelic touch that adds a deep and hypnotic atmosphere.

And, although the inspiration behind the song seems to come from a dark place, its video brings an unexpectedly cheerful note: starring Larry Wilsona character from Glasgow, the footage shows him walking several dogs around New York and trying to explain to New Yorkers who they are Mogwaiadding a touch of ironic humor that contrasts wonderfully with the intensity of the music.
