Interview with This Will Destroy You

Interviews

Transformation and renewal; the key to not collapse and save a band.

In the midst of the city's chaos, the American band This Will Destroy You will take us out of reality to paint soundscapes in the Indie Rocks Forum! next October 22, so we were able to talk with Chris King about his visit and the news about the band.

After the release of his album Vespertine and a pandemic, This Will Destroy You It did not disintegrate, but was transformed to make way for new projects and let the band follow its own destiny, Chris He tells us how this change was experienced.

We went through a lot of personal changes since then, we became other people and what the band is now is the best, for me and those involved. Without a doubt Jeremy will do something, I am on tour with three guys who have been part of the band for more than a decade and we will continue that way, even if it is a different way of doing it.

“People are just starting to separate. “It can be difficult in a business relationship when there are different visions.”

Chrisdid not miss the opportunity to mention his bandmates and, although they are not unknown to many, he recognized their work on other projects, which has brought them together over the years.

“robie He has been the band's drummer even before we split up, he also plays in a great band called A Place To Bury Strangers from New York. In 2010 we did a tour together and that's where I met him, we became friends and it just made sense for him to be part of the band. Masaru Takaku He's incredible, he has a family lineage of rock bassists, he's friends with robie and Oliverit fit perfectly.”

What we like most about the band is the experience we can live live, with each melody that plays we create a new scenario that transports us to different dimensions. However, with the change of recent years, Chris He has known how to take advantage of the opportunity to get closer to his fans and reach new audiences.

“Due to the pandemic, many musicians discovered a way to connect with people through live broadcasts. We will have our first streaming in Dallas, Texas, where we will present Vespertine. “We're doing it two nights in a planetarium, so I feel like it's a good opportunity to change the game to interact with the fans a little more.”

In high school I started making music from the computer, so I am excited about the future of music and the new technologies that encompass it.”

For their presentation in Mexico, we will be able to enjoy a very special evening, because in addition to new songs, the band will experiment on stage, so they will activate our senses when listening to the magic.

He set What we have now is very good; It's a collection of the band's discography, but it will be the first time we won't use backing tracks, so it will be more raw. “It feels a different dynamic now that there are two people on stage using synths and manipulating them.”

This is not experienced every day, so don't be left out of this experience and get your tickets to accompany This Will Destroy You.
