Music news

Rediscovery with a never-before-heard extended mix.

Johnny Marr, the legendary guitarist known for his work with The Smiths and his impressive solo career, he has not only left his mark on music, but has also formed memorable alliances. One of those collaborations is with The Healersa band he founded in the early 2000s with Zak Starkeand in the battery and Alonza Bevanbassist of Kula Shaker. This supergroup took refuge in Forest Edgea study lost in nature, to give life to Boomslangtheir debut album released in 2003.

Now, in celebration of the anniversary of Boomslang, Johnny Marr + The Healers surprises us with a gem rescued from the archive: “You Are The Magic (Union Mix)”This extended version is a delicious mix that has never seen the light of day before.

In its little more than eight minutes, the song envelops you with sound layers that alternate between melancholy and hope, while the guitar of Marr displays that unmistakable brilliance that only he can give.

20 years later, I am pleased to have created the music and this new release of Boomslang “It’s given me the opportunity to revisit it and perform some songs that we weren’t able to include the first time around. The Healers was a special thing that happened to me and I’m grateful that it did. A special group of people at a special moment in time,” Marr revealed in a press release.

With the release of the special reissue of Boomslang next September 20th through BMG, Johnny Marr and his team invite us to rediscover the magic that made this album such a special piece.
