The talent and elegance of Anna Castiglia you can feel it as soon as you meet her. Polite, helpful, attentive, with eyes that, under her large and captivating glasses, they let all his passion for music and its sound narration shine through.
I met Anna on a special summer evening inside the WE READING FESTIVALa little pearl, now in its eighth edition, which takes place in the Rimini hinterland inside the garden of the Ethnographic Museum of Santarcangelo di Romagna, far from the giga productions that invade the summer holidays.
Three days of unpublished readings, shows, talks and concerts at dawn, completely free, which for some years has offered surprises and original and intimate opportunities to enjoy a different evening.
In this setting I met Anna, who played before Edgar Allan Pop and Lucio Corsi in the evening's thoughtful set.
A live performance by the singer from Catania now based in Milan that is a journey through different musical styles and genres, a full immersion in good humor and talent, an oasis of lightheartedness and moments of reflection that, always with irony, make us look at our days with awareness and maturity.
Anna tell me how this summer live is going. What are your vibes?
This summer I took the tour I did in the spring around Italy. In the concert lineup I wanted to reverse the mechanism. Usually you make the album and then the tour, I did the opposite and in the concerts I proposed the songs from my next album. A somewhat risky inversion, but preparatory for the release of the album.
A tour done almost entirely with the band and with a few nights, like this one, alone in acoustic just me and my guitar.
The experience with the band touring Italy in the van was one of the best things about this summer.
The response from the public has always been welcoming, it has always enveloped me in affection, warmth and participation.
I must say that I have alternated different situations such as concerts of my own alternating with festivals and mega events such as the one in July at the Fabi Silvestri Gazzè concert at the Circo Massimo.
This live summer was a real workout!
How did people receive your new album?
I liked to invert these rules precisely to try to “re-educate” the attention threshold a little on a human level and not just on that of Instagram Reels.
It was surprising to see how the various songs were received, you can understand which ones have more impact and which ones less and I think that the album, when it comes out, will have a fairly welcoming ground.
When will the album come out?
It will come out in September, at the end of the summer, although I don't know exactly when yet.
What will we find inside?
The album is a bit of a story of these last years. There are songs born over time, songs from five years ago as well as pieces born a month ago. It's not a concept, it's a playlist, a hodgepodge of everything I've been. I threw out what I had done to make room for new things that I'm already writing.
The album will include songs already released this year. There will be songs with important lyrics but also love songs and songs with more music and less lyrics.
I also like to show my being a musician as well as a protest singer-songwriter with two chords. There will be Latin arrangements but also very pop. An album that undoubtedly has a dualism.
If you had to define your music with three key words?
Inconsistent, to counteract this damned coherence that always tries to govern us in music and that must necessarily conform at all costs.
Recognizable, because I like my style to be immediately understandable.
Responsible and polite, for now polite like me. Although in the future I hope to transgress a little more in my life!
What would you like to achieve in the future, in the next few years?
My dream has always been to think about creating a complete show that can unite in an original way the disciplines that I like and that I studied. I'm already writing the idea for this show that must be a little musical, a little theatrical. I would also like to involve my sister who is a circus performer. This is my goal.
What music are you listening to these days?
I'm listening to Maro, a Portuguese singer-songwriter. I really like her. I'm obsessed with her lately!

ABOUT ANNA CASTIGLIA
She has made creativity at 360 degrees the keystone of her project. Freshness outside of any scheme has now become a distinctive trait of Anna Castiglia and her songs are full, rich, emotionally and musically, are the testimony of a stylistic expressiveness unique in its kind.
Sicilian by birth but Milanese by adoption, Anna has just released her latest singles GHALI and Present Participlethe latter song that talks about the famous undefined apprenticeship of emerging artists, a race in a crowded street in search of success. The stage is the natural environment in which his project was born and developed: after having spent the last few months on theater stages opening for Max Gazzè's live.
In April she returned with the new single “Whitman” feat. Ghemon and announced the dates of the summer tour.
