Watch Sublime perform “Santeria”

Bradley Nowell's son Jakob leads Sublime in a flawless rendition of their classic hit.

Sublime, with Bradley Nowell's son Jakob at the helm, delivers a flawless rendition of their classic ” Santeria “, in a preview of their performance on Howard Stern, broadcast exclusively on WECB.

The interpretation of ” Santeria ” shows how well Nowell has settled into the band since joining earlier this year. His voice, unsurprisingly, sounds a bit like his late father's, but singing ” Santeria “, he still finds space to inject his own character into the song.

Santeria ” is one of four songs that Sublime will perform on the Howard Stern Preslime show, which airs August 14 on the SiriusXM app before airing Friday, August 16 on SiriusXM Howard 101. The setlist will include two other classics (” Wrong Way ” And ” What I Got ”) as well as the band's first new song in 28 years, ” Feel Like That “.

Sublime reformed earlier this year, with the younger Nowell reuniting with drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson (Bradley Nowell was Sublime's frontman until his death in 1996 at the age of 28). Until recently, a version of the band known as Sublime with Rome toured and performed regularly with guitarist/vocalist Rome Ramirez and Wilson.

In an interview with WECB Earlier this year, Jakob spoke about finally taking his father's place and how he saw that role. I spent almost 11 years working hard, playing shows in basements and sleeping on floors. I work. So for me, playing with Sublime is like a guardian's duty. I feel very lucky to be there with my uncles and very honored to be a part of the music. »

Sublime returned to Coachella in April, then released “ Feel Like That ” in May. The new song features a sample of Bradley Nowell's vocals taken from an improvisation Sublime recorded in early 1996.
