From Celine Dion to Lady Gaga, including Aya Nakamura… A look back at the musical performances that punctuated the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This Friday, July 26, all eyes around the world turned to our beautiful French capital. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games finally kicked off during an exceptional ceremony, taking place on the Seine. A launch marked by rain but above all by the unforgettable live performances of several talented artists. WECB invites you to relive the highlights of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Lady Gaga
After weeks of rumors, the Mother Monster, who arrived in Paris earlier this week, really put on a show at the opening of the ceremony. Lady Gaga paid tribute to the ballerina Zizi Jeanmaire, famous in the 60s, by covering her iconic song “Mon truc en plumes”. All in impeccable French! Bravo!
Gojira and Marina Viotti
Explosive and surprising sequence during this ceremony in Paris. Mezzo soprano Marina Viotti shared the stage with the French metal band Gojira. The musicians were perched on the balconies of the Conciergerie in front of an animation inspired by the French Revolution. Breathtaking!
Aya Nakamura
The superstar appeared on the Pont des Arts like a Queen! In an incredible golden outfit and on an equally flamboyant decor, the singer performed a remix of her hits “Pookie”, “Djadja” mixed with the legendary song “For me formidable” by Charles Aznavour. Aya Nakamura more powerful than ever surprised by being accompanied by the Republican Guard. A modern tableau that will surely remain in the memories.
Rim'K
Rap was also represented during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Rim'k, aka the uncle of the bled, braved the rain and came to perform his song “King” on a barge between the Pont des Invalides and the Pont de l'Alma. A memorable sequence for many nostalgic for the group 113.
Philippe Katerine
As usual, Philippe Katerine made a remarkable appearance. For the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the singer arrived on a huge plate of fruit, completely naked, covered in blue glitter paint. After listening to his legendary hit “J'adore”, the artist who never lacks humor performed his song “Nu”.
Juliette Armanet and Sofiane Pamart
In the middle of the Seine on a floating rock, Juliette Armanet moved the audience by performing John Lennon's anthem for peace, “Imagine”. A pure moment of sweetness accompanied by a burning piano led by the well-known musician Sofiane Pamart.
Celine Dion
It was a highly anticipated return. The singer, who had not been on stage for four years, made an incredible comeback. The star, who suffers from stiff person syndrome, proved to the world that she was feeling better by performing “L'Hymne à l'amour” from the top of the Eiffel Tower. An incredibly moving sequence after Marie-José Perec and Teddy Riner lit the Olympic cauldron.
