Review: yungest Moonstar - “sFaCioLaTe miXTaPe”

Tha Supreme, Thasup or yungest Moonstar, Davide Mattei, with his creative multiplicity, travels in his bedroom (all alone) and creates his sound universes.

“sFaCioLaTe miXTaPe”, as he himself defined it, is a project born for pure fun to express the lightness you feel in your room, when you get lost in your thoughts.

One of the most absurd mixtapes ever. Lessssgoooooo

21 songs all under three minutes except for In a bubble in which, in his style, he crosses sounds and suggestions.
A mixtape that oozes with reminiscences. Reminiscences of himself (SqUad seems to be a trace of Machete left out) and references everywhere, all to be discovered and dressed in its own way (netflixXx is Why by Carly Simon).

Among the project's highlights is also the presence of UFO_jaZZ_boY, a free downloadable video game in the style of Only Up! in which players immerse themselves in the artist's visionary world.
And “sFaCioLaTe miXTaPe” itself seems almost like a musical-ludic-game work. A sort of sound videogame full of references, super powers, connections and levels.

What works about the Mixtape is its very essence of Mixtape, that is, experimentation and pure creative experiment, without features… free from the logic of rankings, markets and various bullshit…

Making a record because you want to do it and above all because you want to share your music and make people listen to it.

What doesn't work is that we are in 2024 and the style of tha, yungest or any other of his musical avatars, perhaps needs a substantial upgrade.
A change of level and an evolution for an artist who risks keeping his infinite genius blocked at a standstill.

I expect a lot from Davide. He can make a difference and write the future of music (something he glimpses in Replaced (outro))…he only played here, now we wait for his new version!
