SYD BARRETT the documentary that tells his story on Rai5

Music news

A song that becomes a film: “Syd Barrett: Have You Got It Yet?” – broadcast Tuesday 6 August at 11.10pm on Rai 5.

The visual and audio story of the genius, mind and frontman of the first incarnation of Pink Floyd.
Directed by Roddy Bogawa and Storm Thorgerson – co-founder of the Hipgnosis studio and author of much of the band's artwork (including The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here), who passed away ten years ago – the documentary features archive footage and interviews with all the living members of Pink Floyd: David Gilmour (a childhood friend of Barrett himself and his replacement in the band since 1967), Nick Mason and Roger Waters, but also Barrett's sister, Rosemary Breen, and Pink Floyd managers Peter Jenner and Andrew King.

Also interviewed were Pete Townshend of The Who, Graham Coxon of Blur, Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT and playwright Tom Stoppard.
It's an opportunity to retrace the day Pink Floyd dumped Syd Barrett, but also to read reviews of both of his solo albums, “The Madcap Laughs” and “Barrett”.
