Review: ROSE VILLAIN – “Radio Sakura” (Track by Track)

Reviews

Rose was needed in the Italian recording scene. A statement and not a question, which she takes on greater significance after listening to her new musical chapter “Radio Sakura”.

Rose replenishes the female movement, positions herself as the protagonist of a certain type of pop and does so with a record that crosses her intimacy.

Stories and tales of relationships that speak of pain, complex stories, difficulties, of nostalgia and develop in search of a new awareness full of hope, freedom and desire for renewal.

With this album I felt more free than ever to be fragile, irreverent, ambitious and with this music, for me the best I have ever written, I blossomed into the artist and woman I dreamed of being.”

Even from a musical point of view, Rose goes through various moods. Under the “family” production of Sixpm (her sound companion and also in her life) “Radio Sakura” she broadcasts her programming made up of pop-urban, which dialogues with electronics, with punk and even with bachata.

If with “Radio Gotham” we wrote that Rose was ready for the big leap, with “Radio Sakura” spring has arrived, she has made the big leap and has definitively flourished!

TRACK BY TRACK

01 HATTORI HANZO ft Madame
RADIO SAKURA is an album dedicated to women and it could only begin with the union of two artists who respect and support each other. HATTORI HANZO tells what will be the theme that binds the whole album, that is, that even when everything seems lost, resilience, hope, love, just like nature and flowers, always manage to be reborn and cover everything under their green cloak.

02 CLICK BOOM!
CLICK BOOM! talk about love. One of those loves that shed such a strong light that they inevitably bring with them gray areas: mistrust, self-effacement, the fear of suffering, the fear of making people feel bad.

03 STAN ft Hernia
STAN talks about love, but also about friendship or relationships with people you respect, which can sometimes be visceral and at times obsessive, but no less true and powerful.

04 HUH?
HUH? it is the anthem of those who have struggled to assert themselves but who now feel confident in what they do, it is the redemption, the self-celebration of years of apprenticeship and female power. And again in the face of those who doubt, we reply “huh?!!”.

05 GRAFFITI ft Bresh
GRAFFITI is a story that has ended but never really seems to end, one of those that leave indelible marks on the heart, like graffiti.

06 MY FUNERAL
MY FUNERAL is a 70s punk inspired piece about someone feeling sick at a party, which, in Rose’s specific case, can be interpreted as having a panic attack due to social anxiety but, somehow, then finding a positive and ironic side in the sensation of dying.

07 BAD THOUGHTS ft thasup
BAD THOUGHTS is an intimate and raw piece, where Rose Villain and thasup address the topic of mental health, of when you enter that loop of negativity from which you struggle to escape, but you can.

08 HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A COWBOY CRYING?
In this piece with electro-country sounds, Rose invites men to show themselves fragile, to let themselves go in the face of feelings and not to be afraid of them.

09 TRANSPARENT
TRASPARENTE talks about the struggle to emerge, to be noticed, to have one’s own space in a difficult world and that deep desire that we all share to be loved, first and foremost by ourselves.

10 LIKE THUNDER ft Guè
Inspired by the imagery of the film of the same name starring Ryan Gosling, LIKE A THUNDER is a bachata rap that talks about a sudden and therefore somewhat dangerous love.

11 I, MYSELF AND OTHER TROUBLES
The ode to your own mess, on the sounds of Tainted Love, and the acceptance and celebration of the imperfections that make us so unique.

12 MILAN AT LEAST YOU
Poised between love and hate towards Milan, the city of Rose, which is the house where all her angels, but also all her demons, live.
