Red Hot Chili Peppers – Return of the Dream Canteen

Music news

Red Hot Chili Peppers will present their album Return of the Dream Canteen at NOS Alive on July 6. Dive into this disc with the editorial team.

For his return home, guitarist John Frusciante is well put to work. Indeed, after slowing down the pace for a few years, Red Hot Chili Peppers decided to come back in force, with two albums released six months apart. This new delivery, entitled Return Of The Dream Canteenwith 17 pieces, is as extensive and varied asUnlimited Love, the previous album. For more than an hour, the four Californians take you into a dreamlike universe, where the soaring arpeggios of John Frusciante collide with the warm bass of Flea.

Sometimes funky with the stirring “Tippa My Tongue”, supercharged with “Fake As Fuck”, soaring with “My Cigarette”, even heavy with “Reach Out”, the group explores its entire musical spectrum. He evokes both his youth and his more recent works. We can’t help but think of “By The Way” when listening to the intro to “Eddie”, or to think of the jazz influences of Flea with the trumpet which punctuates “Bella”.

We nevertheless feel a few lengths at the end of the album, with the ballad “La La La La La La La La” which lacks intensity and the finale “In The Snow”, whose chanting is questionable. Nevertheless, these slight imperfections will not prevent the most gourmands from greedily swallowing this disc, generous and sometimes surprising, which confirms the return to grace of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
