Def Leppard celebrates the 40th anniversary of its iconic album ‘Pyromania’ with a gift for its fans

The British band Def Leppard published in 1983, Pyromania, an album that launched the group to the status of rock legends. A work that includes international hits such as photography, Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) either Rock of Ages. With it they achieved platinum sales status worldwide (including a number 2 on the US sales chart).

Since then, Pyromania has become one of the best-selling rock albums of all time along with its continuation, Hysterialeading Def Leppard to be one of only five rock bands in history to have two albums certified as Diamond by the RIAA (more than 10 million sales in the US alone), an enormous feat today within the music industry. This was also the album on which Phil Collen replaced the guitarist Pete Willis and the first with which the classic Def Leppard line-up was born.

“Pyromania is truly a very special album for obvious reasons. It was the first time we worked together with Mutt Lange and I got to play with my amazing friend Steve Clark, who was a wonderful and extremely talented guitarist. “I am extremely proud of this album and what we achieved with it.”Collen has declared.

On the occasion of 40th anniversary of Pyromaniathe band will release the next April 26a expanded and remastered version of the iconic album which includes previously unreleased music and videos. This deluxe set includes 4 CDs of the original album, a disc with unheard demos that were recently rediscovered by Joe Elliott while reviewing material in the archive, a previously unreleased demo of No You Can’t Do That and two concerts from the time, at the LA Forum (USA) and Westfalen Halle in Dortmund (Germany). In addition, it includes a book with the history of the album written by the journalist Paul Elliott (who has conducted new interviews with the band members), as well as unpublished and little-known photos taken by the group’s photographer and regular collaborator, Ross Halfin.

For its part, Rick Savage has said that “From the beginning we had a very specific idea of ​​how we wanted it to sound. A huge wall of guitars and drums that supported a voice and powerful melodies. That vision came to fruition when making Pyromania. Even now it has that special quality that made it such a spectacular album. And it proves that these songs remain fan favorites and true touchstones of any Def Leppard concert. Forty years? It seems like not even 40 days have passed.”.

This summer, the group will once again embark on a lengthy stadium tour across North America alongside the San Francisco-based band, Journey, Steve Miller Band, heart and Cheap Trick.

Previously, Def Leppard hit the road with their electrifying international stadium tour in 2022 and 2023 where they played to over 2 million people in 27 countries across five continents, cementing their legendary tour status.
