Linkin Park announces “Friendly Fire” with Chester Bennington

Music news

A journey through time.

A song lost in time, or at least that’s what was thought. “Friendly Fire” was recorded during the sessions One More Light in 2017, so we have the presence of the voice of the deceased, Chester Bennington.

Linkin Park has shared a small preview of the song on their social networks, this one has a much more synth pop touch, in the style of the different sound changes they experienced in One More Lightthe album they released before Bennington He took his life in 2017.

This preview, which appears to be the chorus, says: “We’re falling apart for no reason/We’re pulling the trigger on a useless war/If we back off and go black/What are we fighting for/It’s just friendly fire.”

We mixed more songs than are on the finished album (One More Light) and we mixed a couple of other songs just to see if any of them fit or whatever. Or if we could use it for a B-side and out ‘Friendly Fire’”explained the band.

In 2020 Mike Shinoda, co-founder of the group, mentioned the existence of this issue. Fans begged to release the song, to which he responded:

You’ll literally have to wait years to hear that song, FYI. I always tell people that when there is news I give them the news. “We’ve been doing it for a while and I think our expectations for a proper reissue are pretty high,” he said. Shinoda in a press release

The song will be published next Friday, February 23, without a doubt “Friendly Fire” stands as a reminder of the strength, vulnerability and incomparable talent of Benningtonwhose voice continues to resonate in the hearts of millions.
