Review: JENNIFER LOPEZ – “This Is Me…Now”

Reviews

It’s been a decade since Jennifer Lopez released a new album. Not that she had disappeared in recent years. On the contrary!

The release of “This Is Me…Now” is almost a celebration that coincides with the return of love (the one with Ben Affleck) and the anniversary of the sister album “This is Me…Then” (2002), completing a journey that lasted 20 years.

Hats off to J.Lo who is still spectacular at the age of 55.

“This is Me… Now” doubles down on Lopez’s previous commitment to celebrating her (re)union with Affleck.
She clearly feels that they are now wise enough to handle the public attention that she says contributed to their first breakup.

The album, written and produced by JLo and Rogét Chayed – featuring Angel Lopez, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, HitBoy, Tay Keith and INK among others – effortlessly blends R&B, contemporary pop sounds and hip-hop beats combined with its emotional voice, and is his most honest and personal.

However, J.Lo does things big and in addition to the album she also releases the concept film: This is Me… Now: A Love Story. A musical and visual re-imagining of her love life driven by an intimate, thoughtful, sexy, funny and fantastical narrative, subjected to public scrutiny. Together with director Dave Meyers, JLo creates an immersive cinematic experience that redefines the genre: an extravagant visual and aural feast featuring dazzling choreography, star cameos, costumes, sets and blockbuster imagery.

A good record by J.Lo, a record to dance to and listen to. A manifesto on love that can sometimes even return, as well as the desire to have fun making music!

SCORE: Score 6.50
