A new perspective on the collapse, which will make you reflect.
DIIV premieres “Brown Paper Bag”the first reveal of the album Frog in Boiling Waterwhich we can enjoy starting May 24 through Fantasy Records. With flashes of dream pop and post rock, the song, “Brown Paper Bag”, creates a sinister atmosphere while the lyrics present a despondent and defeated narrator, making clear the direction in which this album produced by Chris Coady. A material that appropriately explores themes of gradual collapse.
We understand the metaphor to be about a slow, sickening, overwhelmingly banal collapse of society under late-stage capitalism, the brutal realities we have perhaps come to accept as normal. “The album is more or less a collection of snapshots from various angles of our modern condition that we believe highlights what this collapse looks like and, more particularly, what it feels like,” the band explained in a press release.
DIIV is an American rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York, since its beginnings in 2011 it has been characterized by destroying many imaginations, observing collective oblivion and trying to articulate traces of hope within an enveloping darkness.
The album art and the 10 songs that make it up are perfectly planned for you to explore the collapse from the balance of rhythms with guitars and voices that often wave like diaphanous curtains.
As this album arrives, we leave you with “Brown Paper Bag”it’s already on your favorite platform, so… Give it a try play!
