Legendary American rock band Blue Öyster Cult announces their upcoming studio album, Ghost Stories, will be the last. A first extract is available.

After a career spanning more than 50 years, American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult announce that their next studio album will be their last. Titled Ghost Storiesthis disc will be released on April 12.

It is made up of unfinished pieces, written in a period from 1976 to 2016, as well as covers such as “Kick Out The Jams” by MC5 and “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” by The Animals. An extract, entitled “So Supernatural”, is available via the player below:

This record is an opportunity to see the return of former drummers Albert Bouchard and Rick Downey, who were involved in the recording process. The disc thus mixes old recordings and more recently finalized parts.

Ghost Stories arrives three years after The Symbol Remains, a record which marked Blue Öyster Cult’s major studio return. The group then embarked on a tour which included two dates in Paris. More recently, the group released a live performance for their 50th anniversary, in which they played their first album in full.
