The band reappears with a reel from Instagram that previews a little of what we will hear in his next musical project.
The indie group from New York City, Vampire Weekend, has begun promoting the release of their anticipated fifth album. Through a teaser shared on their official Instagram account, titled “OGWAUteaser1.mp4.”, the group led by Ezra Koenig shares the preview of a soft piano melody accompanied by percussion from the drummer Chris Thomson.
About the album, last December the same Thomson shared information through the distribution of his latest vinyl, Una Notte A Milano Con Vampire Weekendwhere he wrote:
“Ezra (Koenig) took raga singing lessons with Terry Riley in Japan and wrote what he considers to be seven of his top 10 songs of all time.”
This morning, Vampire Weekend shared a second preview, “OGWAUteaser2.mp4,” also via Instagram. Like the first video, this second promotional sample also recovers images from the short film Dream Citytaken in 1986 by the New York photographer Steven Siegel. This time we hear a more aggressive melody with a distorted guitar riff that will be pushing the sound of Vampire Weekend towards new horizons. You can find these previews right here.
