Music news

Portishead’s Beth Gibbons has announced her debut solo album. The album, out May 11, will be titled “Lives Outgrown”.

The songs address the anxieties of growing old.

I realized what life was like without hope.

And it was a sadness I had never felt. Before I had the chance to change my future, but when you fight with your body, you can’t force it to do something it doesn’t want to do.”.

It’s also a farewell album, he added.

People started dying. When you’re young, you never know the ending, you don’t know how it’s going to end. You think: we’ll move beyond this. It will go better. Some endings are hard to digest…. Now that I’ve come out the other side, I just think you have to be brave.

Floating on a Moment it is the title of the single that anticipates the release of the album. There is also a kaleidoscopic video for the song by director Tony Oursler.

When I listened to “Floating On A Moment” for the first time it literally transported me from one place to another, filling me with emotions and kaleidoscopic visions. If possible, I wanted to capture that psychic fluid in this video. Beth’s work is so powerful that she can lead us through the forests and fires of life, revealing glimpses of possible futures. With a voice and music like that, I knew we had to make open, somewhat speculative images. ” – Tony Oursler
