SANREMO 2024 – ALFA: I’m proud to be a voice out of the chorus

Interviews

Go is the title of the song that ALFA brought to the stage of the Sanremo Festival.

The song is the first piece of his third album, “I don’t know who created the world but I know he was in love”, which will be released on February 16th.

THE STORY

Writing songs was an alternative to going to parties, because when I was young I was bullied for my body shape.

I was born from the MTV generation. My bet is to bring folk-country into Italian. This genre arrived in Italy in a strong way with characters such as Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, The Lumineers and surrounding areas.

It was destructive to experience the championship of numbers. I want to be an artist and a songwriter and I think folk-country music is an idea.

I try to have a positive approach, a way of looking at life.
I’m proud to be a voice out of the chorus. So much positivity can be seen in a negative way especially in my generation.
Behind this yellow there is also a lot of black.

VIDEO

Filming this video was a very strong experience that I don’t think I’ll repeat.”

With Bellissimissima we started this concept of music videos aimed at taking away fears.

I would never have done a roller coaster, let alone a parachute jump! I’m very happy that the video completely marries the imagery of the song.

When I wrote Go! I didn’t imagine shooting a video like this but, thinking about it now, it seems like the song was written on purpose. Going takes courage and this is definitely the bravest music video I’ve ever made.

It was also a way to take away some of my pre-Sanremo anxiety because I thought that Ariston would scare me less if I was able to sing it in the sky.”

THE COVER

For the covers evening, ALFA will duet with Roberto Vecchioni, in “Sogna boyfriend dreams”, a song with great contemporary meaning written by the Professor in 1999. The song represents an incitement to young people to never give up and to face all challenges with courage that life puts before you.

For me, making a song with him is an honor.
I have his poster in my room. The choice of Vecchioni is my personal one because my dad often sang Vecchioni’s song “Luci a San Siro” to me.
I sang it at my first concert with my dad.
We are different generations but we have the same desire to make music.

ALFA will release a new album entitled “I DON’T KNOW WHO CREATED THE WORLD BUT I KNOW HE WAS IN LOVE” and will be released on February 16th.
