The 2024 Paralympic Games ceremony will take place this Wednesday, August 28. Discover the expected festivities.
The Paralympic Games are just around the corner. This sporting event puts athletes with disabilities in the spotlight. If Aya Nakamura, Celine Dion, and other artists have left an indelible mark at the Olympic Games, what about the Paralympic Games?
For this new edition, just like for the 2024 Olympic Games, the opening ceremony will not take place in a stadium, but in the heart of the capital. It will begin this Wednesday, August 28 with a free parade, open to all, which will extend from the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde. The organizers promise ” performances never seen before ” and a show that particularly highlights the body and diversity. For this, 4,400 para-athletes will be present.

At the helm of this event, we once again find artistic director Thomas Jolly, recognized for his creativity and innovative approach. For the moment, no artist has been officially announced for the opening ceremony. However, we already know the artists planned for the closing ceremony, which will be held on September 8 at the Stade de France: Jean-Michel Jarre, Kavinsky, Cassius, and Busy P, promising an electro program. We can therefore expect the opening ceremony to be just as rhythmic and surprising.
In addition, the Olympic cauldron will be re-lit and will rise each evening into the Paris sky. The first events will begin on Thursday, August 29, with nearly 550 competitions on the program.
