The Greek singer premiered her most recent single.
Σtella premiere “Girl Supreme”, This song was recorded in Havabanana Studio in Athens, Greece and produced by the same Σtella with additional mixing and production work Edmund Irwin-Singer from the band Glass Animals.
The singer whose stage name is pronounced Stella commented on its release “Learning to use ‘on’, ‘in’ and ‘at’ made me chase ‘Girl Supreme’”, to which he added. “And prepositions made me think about propositions: when a chance encounter turns into a fateful affair.”
“Girl Supreme has been released through the legendary record label Sub Pop which was previously the birthplace of artists such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth and Soundgarden. Fleet Foxes and Beach House are among the artists currently signed to the Seattle-based record company.
“Girl Supreme” arrived just after the 2022 release of their debut album Up and Away also through the seal Sub Pop. An album where the Athens-based painter, visual artist and performer brought new sounds that update the Greek pop scene, using traditional folk melodies and instruments such as the bouzouki and kanun accompanied by 80s pop synths and relaxed psychedelia. Up and Away received international support from Paste, Gorilla vs Bear, Brooklyn Vegan, Mojo, Uncut, Loud and Quiet and The Line of Best Fit who said: “The honey-rich voice of Σtella is layered over a crisp, stripped-down accompaniment that has echoes of classic ’60s pop.”
In addition to launching “Girl Supreme” Σtella gave a series of concerts in the United Kingdom and the EU in the month of August passing through Switzerland and Germany and closing on August 18 at the Green Man Festival in Brecon.
